Ąselė is a functional element, yet it often compromises the lightness and openness of ceramic forms. Conceived by architect Vaiva Mažonė and developed together with ceramist Vaida Vaičiūnaitė / Studio Tyle, the EMBRACE collection emerged from a simple question: does a handle need to exist in its traditional form?
Rejecting conventional two-point attachment, the cup’s handle was shaped from a raw piece of clay and lightly pressed onto the vessel’s side. The result is an asymmetrical yet highly intuitive form that naturally follows the anatomy of the palm — more like an embrace than a handle.
The collection explores the relationship between object and body through tactile contrast: an unglazed, rough-textured handle paired with a glossy ceramic surface, balancing rawness and refinement. Designed according to palm anatomy, EMBRACE cups are produced in both right- and left-handed versions.
The EMBRACE design is patented.
